Day 29: Romans 8/Psalm 61

Do you think anyone
is going to be able to drive a wedge between us and Christ's love for
us? There is no way! Not trouble, not hard times, not hatred, not
hunger, not homelessness, not bullying threats, not backstabbing, not
even the worst sins listed in Scripture.

A Love I
Can’t Mess Up
Think of the person in your life that you are closest to, and what your
relationship with that person looks like. When I think of the person who
has loved me longest and the most during my life, I think of my mother.
She has been such a support for me--I know that I am constantly in her
prayers, but I can still manage to do a few things that will cause her
to say my name in that tone…you know the one I mean. But she is still
always there for me.
Now, imagine that
there is actually someone who loves you more. There is
a love so perfect that you can’t mess it up. That is Christ’s love for
you! Every moment of your life He loves you.
In just the normal
living of our lives, we mess up many of our relationships so easily,
but as long as you turn to Christ, again and again, He will always be
there for you. Nothing can separate you from the love of Christ.
What an amazing
idea that nothing can come between us and Christ’s love for us! I think
that this is one of the most difficult things for our simple, human
brains to understand. Aside from our relationship with Christ, all of
our relationship experience involves humans--people just as confused as
we are. But I believe that God designed our human relationships to be
slightly flawed, so that we would continually be amazed and awed by His
love.
Today’s
Prayer:
Jesus, thank you for a love that is so perfect that I can’t mess it
up. Please reveal the depth of your love to me more and more, so that
it becomes more of a reality, a truth that I hold on to.
