Welcome...we're glad you're here!
St. Paul's has adopted a "purpose driven" model of
ministry that guides and directs the way we do "church." We
use the term "purpose driven" to describe five objectives that
we are pursuing in order to be the church that Jesus Christ wants us to
be. Christ has called us to balance our lives in worship, fellowship,
discipleship, service and outreach. These five purposes are to be
pursued not only by our church as a whole, but by every small group and
every believer in our church.
We are all on a journey, a spiritual pilgrimage. God has created in
each of us a need to know God and be known by God. You could say there
is a God-shaped hole in our souls that only Jesus can fill. So at St.
Paul's, we want to offer every person opportunities for:
·
experiencing God
through worship,
·
belonging to
God through fellowship,
·
growing in God's love through discipleship,
·
ministering to God's people through service, and
·
offering hope to God's world through outreach.
Jesus' invitation is a simple one: "Follow Me." Why
not take Him up on His offer and discover the great adventure He has
for you?
Or ministry is focused in five areas
illustrated by our logo....
Membership.... A shepherd's crook symbolizes our need for
the Good Shepherd (Jesus), who invites all people to join His
"flock" and be guided by His voice (John 10). Membership =
Fellowship
Maturity.... Just as the tree grows from the seedling to
sapling to full-grown hardwood, so a follower of Jesus is called to
grow into a mighty "spiritual redwood." Through small groups,
Bible classes and individual discipline, a believer grows in his or her
faith journey (Ephesians 4:15). Maturity = Discipleship
Ministry.... God created our hands and feet for acts of service.
Hands supporting the world illustrate that we have a responsibility to
go into our homes, church, community and world to serve and to minister
in Jesus Christ's name (Ephesians 6:7). Ministry = Service
Mercy.... A sailing boat reminds us that the apostle
Paul (our church's namesake) left the security of his homeland to reach
out with an evangelist's heart to share the Good News of Jesus Christ
with all people (Matthew 28:19). Paul's message brought hope and life. Mercy
= Outreach
Magnification.... The four areas above flow from a dove,
representing the Holy Spirit (Matthew 3:16), who empowers and directs or
praise and worship of God. In worship we "magnify" God's name
(see God in greater ways). True worship flows out of a balances life of
fellowship, discipleship, service and outreach. Magnification =
Worship
